Gregstrom’s Plastic Thermoforming offers significantly lower tooling costs and lead times than injection molding and other processes. It is cost effective for both short runs and medium volume production. The process is compatible with a broad range of materials including ABS, Acrylic/PVC, HIPS, HDPE, LDPE, PP, PETG, and polycarbonate. Thermoformed part surfaces do not exhibit the porosity, sink/gate marks and other undesirable conditions common to other processes. In addition, custom color sheet and textured tooling can eliminate the need for paint altogether.
Gregstrom’s Plastic Thermoforming Processes include:
- Vacuum Forming
- Pressure Forming
- Twin Sheet Forming
Gregstrom’s Forming Techniques for Thermoforming include:
- Drape Forming
- Plug Assist Forming
- Vacuum Snapback
- Billow Forming
Gregstrom’s Rotational Molding (Roto Molding) is a plastics processing technique that is ideally suited to produce relatively large, hollow, seamless parts which are partially or totally enclosed. Rotational Molding is a low pressure process and the strength required from the molds is minimal. This results in its ability to produce large, complex parts on short notice using low cost molds.
The low processing pressure involved in rotational molding has the added advantage of producing parts which are virtually stress free. Rotational Molding is economical for short production runs and prototypes as well as high volume production. Design flexibility ranges form small, intricate designs to large, complex parts.
Unique features include:
- Low tooling costs
- Short lead time
- Virtually stress free parts
- Uniform wall thickness with no thinning in extremities
- Ability to produce multi-wall moldings
